A Day in the Life of Eliana: 5 months!

Wow Eliana is 5 months old. Can you believe it? I can't. She is growing so fast, though all her baby friends are starting to outgrow her. She may be 5 months but she is still comfortably wearing 3m clothing, and her 6m clothes are still ridiculously big on her. She is rolling onto her belly all the time and starting to figure out how to roll back. She is an expert at scooting backwards, though that is not the direction she intends to go. I'm starting to find her stuck half under the couch (or coffee table) on a regular basis. She is eating one solid meal a day. She has had rice and oatmeal (she prefers oatmeal) carrots, apples, and bananas. She has tasted watermelon, bell peppers, peaches, potatoes, and I'm sure a lot more that I'm not thinking of right now. In the last month I tried to train her to sleep unswaddled, but after 3 weeks of bad naps and a constantly fussy baby I gave up and for the past 2 weeks (or so) she has been taking great naps and is calmer and not nearly as fussy. Now lets see what she is up to today.

8:00 Slept in this morning, by the way I'm only waking up once at night to eat now (sometimes twice) and I still sleep for about 12 hours total at night.

9:00 Despite sleeping in I was ready for my nap at the usual time, and I slept great didn't wake up till noon.
*Note the sweat spot from her head, this is why I wanted to unswaddle her.
Her swaddle is breathable, but it is so hot here.

I give Mommy big smiles when I wake up from a good nap, but when
she pulled out the camera, I made this face.

12:00 I was super hungry when I woke up, Mommy made me a bowel of smooshed bananas. I'd never had bananas before.
Face after first bite.

Second bite

Face after second bite, I like bananas!

Bananas are really yummy :)
When I finished all my bananas I got to play with my spoon.

12:30 After all that eating and a little bit of playing I needed a little pick me up nap, so I took a short 30 min snooze.

1:00 Now that I was rested again I was ready to play.

I love my Elephant.
2:30 Play time in my Jumperoo.
I can spin this butterfly.

And I can jump, but I'm still not quite tall enough so I jump on a binder
to give me a little boost

Mommy put my kitty on my jumperoo.

Hi Mommy!

3:00 Time for another good nap. Slept from 3-5 when Mommy had to wake me up

5:00 More play time!!! Mom pulled out a new toy for me today, I love it, I can chew on it and when I squeeze it it squeaks.

6:00 Daddy came home from work and Mommy made dinner, I played on the floor and found the pole in my jumperoo, it was so interesting.
*she was so interested in the bar she wouldn't even look at me when I was talking to her

7:00 A little bit of SO BIG! before bed
Who's so big?
Eliana is SO BIG!

A Day in the Life of Eliana: 4 months!

Wow how time has flown. The last month really flew by, I feel like I was just writing Eli's 3 month blog. A lot has changed, Eliana is rolling over like a pro (from back to belly, she had rolled belly to back, but only a few times). And she started rice cereal! She is unsure what to think of it, but more on that in another post.

Today's blog is actually a little different because it is Sunday.

7:30- Wake up, and mom gets some breakfast ready for me. No pre, or during pics today, but here is a post breakfast picture. Also something new this month, I really like my feet.

8:00- While Mom & Dad shower to get ready for church I play on the rug in the bathroom. Don't know what they are going to do when I don't stay where they put me anymore.
8:30- This is where I play while they get dressed, and finish getting ready for church.
9:00- Finally it is my turn to get dressed for church!
9:30-1:30 Traveling to church, at church and travel home time.

1:45- A quick diaper change and a pic of me in my cute dress before I good nap because I don't nap well at church.
4:45- I woke up from my nap and found out Mommy and Daddy had taken naps too, Daddy was still sleeping so I went to wake him up and snuggle.
5:00- A little taste exploration, Mommy bought freeze dried peaches from Target, and I can hold them and taste them.
5:30- 7:00 Play time! Starting with some tummy time. See how high I can lift my head now. And I'm starting to push off my hands instead of my elbows.

And that is how I spend my Sundays.

A Day in the Life of Eliana: 3 months!

Can you believe our little girl is 3 months old already? Time has flown by and she is getting so big so fast. The past month has been an exciting one. Eliana met all her grandparents (she had already met Grandmommy of course), had her blessing (which is like a christening), and flew on 6 planes to get to and from UT to meet her Aunt Becky & Uncle Joseph. She also went a full 13 days without pooping (not totally uncommon for breastfeed babies). We took her into the Dr just in case something was wrong at 12 days and he suggested giving her 1 oz of juice (which she loved). Of course while at the Dr they weighed her and she had gained a whole pound in a month! 11lbs 6 oz.! But some of that weight might have been the poo she was holding onto. Major poosplosion the next morning. Eliana has also become quite good at holding her head up, smiling, and grasping. She is still working on that giggle, but it is getting really good.

We are working on a new nap schedule and this was day 3 of that, so far so good. Yay!

7:00- I woke up and ate some breakfast. Mom and Dad wanted to shower for the day and I had just showered yesterday, so I played on the bed.

Then I helped Daddy get dressed.
Before going to work Daddy played some video games and I watched. One day we will play together.

I wanted to get closer to Daddy so I started to lean towards him, but I fell over on my face :(
9:00 - This is my new nap time, right after Daddy leaves for work

11:15 - I woke up from my nap and was ready to play for a bit. I found out that my play mat has other toys to play with. I like this one it is easy to grab.
12:00 - Mom and I went to the pool for a short trip. Mom didn't bring the camera because she figured she couldn't take pictures and swim with me by herself.

12:45 - It was just a short trip to the pool. It was bright and I couldn't really keep my eyes open and Mom forgot my sun hat. When we got back to the house I was tired so Mom put me down for a 2nd nap, it was a little early but not too much.

4:00 - While I was napping the new toy Mommy ordered for me came.
When I kick it lights up and plays music. I really like music. Haven't quite got the hang of it yet though.
It is fun to watch the lights!

4:30 - Daddy came home from work early and we all went to the pool, but this time Mommy and Daddy just forgot the camera so still no pictures from the pool. I'm not sure what to think of the pool, I don't dislike it. Mom says I like it more and more as I get older.

6:00- When we got back from the pool Mom saw that my hair had dried funny because of the wind. It got a little half curl in the front.

Here's a shot from the front.
6:30 - Before bed we had a little dance party, meaning I danced with Daddy while on Mommy's lap, it was kinda Hip-Hop style.

7:00 - Bedtime, all bundled up and ready to go to sleep.

Utah

Before we start with the trip to UT, here is Eliana right now...

So we went to Utah last weekend for Dave's sister, Becky's sealing. We had to wake up early to get to the airport and baby girl was a little tired from it.

She was awesome on all our flights to and from UT.

While in the Alexandria airport we saw Corbin Bernsen, who plays Henry on Psych. He was nice enough to allow Dave to take a picture with him.

Who would've thought an actor would be on our flight to Houston from Alexandria, LA

That evening we went to dinner with 2 of my best friends from college. We hadn't seen each other in over 3 years. It was so much fun.

Thus ends my picture taking from the weekend ( and I even stole the last picture from Jamie's blog) but we had lots of fun with Becky and Joseph and are so happy we were able to be there to support them.

2 month check-up

Eliana had her 2 month well baby check-up today. It went well and she is doing great. She weighs 10lb 6oz (21st percentile), 22 inches (17th percentile) tall, and her head circumference is 15 inches (15th percentile). She also took an oral vaccine, which she drank just fine, and got 3 shots. The shots didn't go so well. She screamed for about 5 min and finally calmed down enough to nurse. She fell asleep on the way home, but woke up when I brought her into the house. I moved her to the swing to take pics of her battle wounds.
As you can see she is a little out of it. 2 shots on the right, 1 shot on the left

Close up of her band aid

After I took the pictures I bundled her up and put her in her crib, she was asleep again before I left the room, which is not normal for her. Normally if she takes a 10 min nap in the car she won't go back to sleep for at least an hour, but those vaccines are making her drowsy.

Here are some other pics from the last week.

She can grasp her rattle now. If I put it in her right hand
she just holds it, but if I put it in her left hand it goes straight to the mouth.

A close up of trying to eat her rattle

Fell asleep playing with it

but then she went to rub her eyes and it attacked her

And finally here is the 2 month "watch me grow" picture
I happened to catch a really great smile
Daddy turned on a Bob Dylan song and she really liked it
